The
days of starting an internet shop and becoming an overnight
success are over. You should be realistic about your website
goals and concentrate on using your website as a complimentary
marketing tool - not the be all and end all of your business.
Remember there are hundreds and thousands of websites competing
against yours for visits to their site.
The difficulty lies in the way search engines work.
Search engines are providing a service - somebody types
in keywords and the search engine guesses at the sites
that are most likely to be helpful to their user. They
use a complex formula to do this - they look at keywords,
actual content of a website, how many other people are
linking to the site, but ultimately they take note of
how popular the site already is. Two identical sites
can bring two totally different results if one site is
already achieving hits and the other site isn't.
So be patient - if you have realistic expectations
of SEO and have the essential elements in place supported
by other marketing strategies then your
site should one day achieve its goal - first listing
on the first page of google. |
